Congratulations to our latest graduating Direct Entry Program (DEP) students from our Griffith English Language Institute (GELI)!
More than 130 students from 26 countries are now on their way to study at Griffith University and Queensland Institute of Business Technology in Semester 2, 2014. Here’s what a few of them had to say about their GELI experience.
“I really loved my experience here at GELI. Through my English course I have learnt a lot and made many new friends from different countries and cultures. I enjoyed the extra activities that GELI provided to all students, specially the group debates as it helped us practice and improve our team skills and communication skills. I would encourage other students to come to GELI, improve their English and enjoy the Australian lifestyle ”
– Ariel is from China and will commence a Bachelor of Graphic Design.
“Through the Science Without Borders program, I was given the opportunity to study at GELI, and at Griffith. When I arrived at GELI I didn’t know any English at all! It has taken me 11 months but I’ve graduated from DEP and am ready to complete my six-month exchange for my Exercise Science degree at Griffith. At GELI, I was always going to their social activities so I could meet new people, speak more English and learn more about Australian culture and the cultures of my classmates. I love living in Queensland – I really like the Australian way of life. It’s a multicultural society with a beautiful, natural environment.”
– Elonai is from Brazil and will commence a Study Abroad program in Exercise Science.
“The best thing about studying at GELI is the opportunity to meet so many people from different countries and learn English in a multicultural environment. The teachers are very dedicated and friendly and always keen to help you succeed. I started my studies in General English Level 4 through to the Direct Entry Program 5 months ago. I am now confident that my English skills will help me in my studies and open new career opportunities for me.”
– Adriana is from Venezuela and will commence a Master of International Business.
“China’s education system is really different to Australia. When I first arrived I was worried I wouldn’t be able to adapt but the teachers were really understanding and helpful throughout my studies. GELI offers a flexible and independent teaching style, which has allowed me to be more autonomous with my studies and improve my time management and computing skills. I felt the teachers were advisors rather than supervisors which made my learning experience very enjoyable and helped me have a clearer idea about my future university course. I am really happy I chose to come to Australia and study here at GELI; I am now ready to continue my education and continue enjoying the amazing Australian lifestyle.”
– Zhang is from China and will commence a Bachelor in Engineering.
“What I enjoy the most about GELI is the teaching staff. They are not only the best at teaching English, but they’re also really good at providing useful study techniques that I will be able to use in my future university studies. The classes, activities and teachers have taught me how to be independent and organised. Without learning at GELI I would of found it really difficult to adapt to the Australian university style.”
– Satoshi is from Japan and will commence an Exchange program in International Law.
