Are you ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, cultural immersion, and breathtaking beauty? Join me as I share why studying abroad in Australia is the best decision I have ever made.
I am Floris, an international student from the Netherlands, and I just spent the most amazing trimester studying abroad in Australia at Griffith University‘s Gold Coast Campus. And let me tell you, it was the best decision I ever made!
Reason #1: The Nature Around You
First of all, nature in Australia is just something else. The country is famous for its breathtaking landscapes, and the Gold Coast is right in the middle of it all. With three of my favourite landscapes – beaches, rainforests, and mountains – all within reach, I was constantly out and exploring. I had endless opportunities to surf, sunbathe, and just relax in the warm sun. The weather was always perfect – sunny and warm – which made it easy to enjoy the great outdoors every day.
Reason #2: Making International Friends
But what made it even better was all the amazing international friends I made. I met like-minded individuals from all over the world, like Germany, Aruba, Switzerland, and Chile, who shared my passion for adventure and cultural immersion. We all bonded over our experiences, and I learned so much about different cultures, beliefs, and values. Plus, I now have friends all over the world to visit!
Reason #3: Getting to Know Myself Better
Another benefit of studying abroad in Australia was the chance to get to know myself better. Living in a dorm, I had to be independent, manage my daily life, and find a balance between socialising, exploring, and studying. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience that helped me reflect on my values, goals, and aspirations. I came out of it a way more confident and self-assured person ready to take on all sorts of new things!
Reason #4: The Unique Courses Offered Abroad
Another great reason to study abroad in Australia is the opportunity to take courses that you couldn’t find back home. The education system in Australia is very different, with a focus on hands-on, practical learning and real-world experience. This hands-on learning was something I enjoyed a lot more than writing long theoretical research reports, let me tell you. Additionally, I was able to take elective courses in areas outside of my major that I wouldn’t have had access to in the Netherlands. Oh yeah, and the campus is amazingly beautiful!
If you’re considering studying abroad, I can’t recommend Australia and Griffith University enough. You won’t regret it! The opportunities for adventure and self-discovery are endless, and you’ll come back a more confident and self-assured person. I’m so grateful for the chance to experience everything that Australia has to offer, and I’m already planning my next trip back. So, what are you waiting for? Start planning your study abroad experience in Australia today!
All the best,
Floris
